Beginner Stamping Projects, From Simple To Stepped Up

I’m excited to share with you all today my first project from the 2024 – 2025 Annual Catalog! And I thought there would be nothing more fitting than for my first project with new products to be one of my favorite kinds of projects – SIP cards! I love to keep it simple with beginner stamping projects because these cards are not just for beginners to make, they’re great layouts for everyone to make quick and easy cards.

SIP cards are my favorite because all you need are the basics: Stamps, Ink, and Paper. And for today’s project, we’re starting with a simple SIP card and slowly stepping it up to make two more designs. It’s always fun to see the progression of how a card can change just by adding one additional paper layer and one small embellishment.

Three handmade cards to show the progression of a simple SIP card to stepped up. These cards are a part of beginner stamping projects to make handmade cards.

To make our project today, we’re creating with the Stampin’ Up! stamp sets Spotlight on Nature for our focal images and Simply Said for our sentiments. If you’re new to stamping and searching for beginner stamping projects, I always recommend starting with one good image stamp set and one good greeting stamp set. This way you’ll be able to create cards for any occasion!

2024 – 2026 In Colors

Five simple handmade cards that are all stamped the same way, but in a different color. The five different colors are the Stampin' Up! 2024 - 2026 In Colors.

Every year I like to create my first project from the new annual catalog using the new In Colors. Sometimes I don’t know how I feel about the new colors when I only see them listed in the catalog. But then once I start creating with them, I quickly fall in love!

The 2024 – 2026 In Colors are:

  • Petunia Pop
  • Pretty In Pink
  • Peach Pie
  • Shy Shamrock
  • Summer Splash

SIP Cards: From Simple To Stepped Up Video Tutorial

In this video, we’re going to start by making a classic SIP card. Then we’ll step up the same design by adding two paper layers to the card, and step it up one more time by adding some embellishments. These are simple beginner stamping projects to make beautiful, quick and easy cards!

The products used in this video were available for purchase at the time of filming (the list is below.) If something does not show in the list, it is either retired or no longer available.

Spotlight On Nature Card Details

All these cards were made using the Basic White Note Cards & Envelopes for the card bases. I love creating with these and use them all the time! I highly recommend them to beginner card makers because they come pre-cut, scored, and ready to be designed!

Now if you want to step it up a a little and add in some cardstock layers, here are the measurements:

  • Basic White layer: 3″ x 4 1/2″
  • Basic Black layer: 3 1/8″ x 4 5/8″

And that’s it! Super simple to add in a couple of layers to take our SIP card from simple to stepped up. And then if you want to step it up even more with some embellishments, cut your sentiment out of scrap paper and trim to size, add a linen thread bow and three embellishments.
