I am all about making quick and easy cards because I know many of us are busy, and we don’t have a lot of time or we don’t have a lot of supplies. But these are not excuses for buying cards at the store!! If you are new to card making, I’m sharing a few basic card making tips for beginners that will help you learn how quick and easy making cards can be. Or if you’re an experienced card maker looking for some simple stamping designs, I’m sharing an easy design that makes beautiful cards.
Today, we’re stamping with a SIP! This is my favorite stamping technique because all you need is STAMPS, INK, and PAPER. It’s so easy to get overwhelmed with all the “stuff” and fancy supplies out there. I love putting that all away, bringing it back in, and just taking a SIP. It doesn’t require a lot of supplies and you can still make gorgeous cards.

In the video I’m teaching you these easy One Layer SIP card designs using the Stampin’ Up! stamp set Nature’s Print, and then I’ll share with you the same card design that was created with the stamp set Petal Park. This is one of my first basic card making tips for beginners – find one simple card layout that you like, and use it to make cards with any products that you have!
One Layer SIP Card Video Tutorial
In this video, I’m sharing many different basic card making tips for beginners to help you learn more about stamps and inks. And we’ll be creating super quick and easy, one layer SIP cards that I know you’re going to love. Join me as I stamp with a SIP…
The products used in this video were available for purchase at the time of filming (the list is below.) If something does not show in the list, it is either retired or no longer available.
Nature’s Print Card Details
To make these cards, all we’re doing is stamping on a Basic White layer and adhering it to a Basic White card base. Since we’re stamping off the layer, we get a nice border around the card which gives a very simplistic and clean look to the card! And that’s all it takes! Stamp with a SIP – use limited supplies while making beautiful handmade cards. All we used to make these cards were:
- Stamps: Nature’s Print & Phrases for All
- Ink: Memento Black, Old Olive, & Garden Green
- Paper: Basic White Cardstock

One Layer Card Measurements:
- Basic White card base: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″
- Basic White layer: 5″ x 3 3/4″

Here are the other cards that I made by following the same one layer card design and measurements, but using the stamp set Petal Park!
This is one of my favorite things to do to keep card making easy. Use one simple card layout I like to design many cards while using different stamp sets. I can easily make a whole stack of cards with any supplies that I have and for any occasion that I need!
If you like the Petal Park stamp set, I have another simple note card layout that you should see! It also only requires stamps, ink, and paper. Click the button below for this card idea and to learn more stamping tips.

I have been stamping for years but I did learn some new things from this video.
Thank you
That’s so wonderful!
SIP cards are definitely my weakness! Give me die cuts, layers, and complicated card layouts any day; but SIPs make me feel like a card newbie. Clearly I got into card making backwards more than 10 years ago. Thank you for making SIPs feel approachable (and less scary) and teaching us tips n tricks to help our cards turn out decent even as beginners! I’ve got a lot of practice to do before I feel proficient, but thank you for the encouragement and motivation to tackle this type of card making!
Sounds like you’re pretty advanced with your card making – which is a wonderful and special skill!! But it is always nice to be able to take a step back and keep it simple. So happy that I’m able to make this style of card approachable!
Jackie, I don’t remember anyone showing how to stick labels to stamps as simply as you did in this video!!!! and, so far, that’s as far into the video as I am. Can’t wait to see what else I can learn from you this morning!! Thank you.
So glad you found my way for adding labels simple and easy, thanks for watching!
I’m sorry, I should’ve waited to see the video to the end .You addressed an issue I have trouble with. You said you use the speckle stamp so often that you don’t keep it in the case it came in. I’ll bet there’s more than one often used stamp – how do you store them? Please help. I waste so much time looking for my favorite oft-used stamps.
Thanks AGAIN! Much appreciated.
Sue
Honestly I just keep it on it’s own block and set it on my shelf that holds all my stamp sets… sorry, no fancy tips for ideas for this one!
