Baby Wipe Technique Tutorial + a Fun Fold Card Idea

Today I am sharing 2 different ways to use the Baby Wipe Technique on your cards to achieve some beautiful results rather easily. I am also super excited to have my daughter Jesi home to help me with this video. The baby wipe technique has been around for years but it’s always so fun to bring it back and get your fingers a little inky!

I have 2 different ways to show you how to use baby wipes and stamp pad reinkers in your card making. I just know you will be running out to the store to grab a package of baby wipes to play with these techniques.

Baby Wipe Technique 2 Ways | Video Tutorial

Not only will the video teach you 2 different ways to use your stamp pad reinkers and baby wipes but we also have an easy fun fold card for you. It’s one of the Fun Fold Templates from our Volume 1.

I hope you enjoyed our silliness that came out while doing a video with Jesi. It is fun to have my girls home helping me share fun card ideas with you. Show Jesi a little love for her video debut by leaving a comment! (I know she will be reading them!)

Baby Wipe Technique #1 – Fun Fold Card

Let’t take a closer look at the card Jesi made….

This technique is super fun and the results will be totally different each time. I like to use 3 different colors, but you can play around using either more, or less. Just be careful that you don’t use too many and it ends up being a “muddy mess.”

This is an easy fun fold that works great with any stamps, paper, and ink. Use the layout over and over! Here are the measurements. If you made the templates from our Fun Fold Class, you will already have these measurements!

  • Card Base (Crumb Cake): 7 1/4″ x 5 1/2″, score at 3″
  • Card Flap (Crumb Cake): 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″, score at 1″
  • DSP (left side): 2 3/4″ x 5 1/4″
  • DSP (right side): 3″ x 4″

Then add any shape focal point. You can make this card as simple as you want, or get all fancy with lots of layers, embellishments, etc… We added a Linen Thread bow and a few embellishments.

Baby Wipe Technique: Supplies Used

Baby Wipe Technique #2 – Make a Background

After using the baby wipe to ink up your stamp, you can use it to make a great background. As I am creating, I like to make a bunch of background pieces and set them aside to use later. This is where your fingers get a little messy. If you don’t want the ink all over your hands, you could use some rubber gloves to protect them.

Then just stamp on top of the background with any images or greetings to create some quick and easy cards. For this one, I used the Stamparatus to stamp the greeting several times to get a really nice dark image.

  2. I tried the baby wipes technique and I love it! The part where you drag the baby wipe across the cardstock is truly amazing! In fact, I just tried it today for a Global Design Project challenge. And you’re right, you can make LOTS of backgrounds… because the ink on the baby wipes lasts a long time!
Totally in love with this technique!
    Thanks so much for sharing!

Seriously, though, those cards are really nice. I didn’t like the leaf until I saw the baby wipe technique. Plus, I love that fun fold and the plaid paper!
