Today you get to learn a new technique with this one layer card plus masking technique made easy; (at least it’s new to me teaching it on here!). It’s super easy, has a dramatic effect, and it’s a masculine card! I used the stamp set called Winter Woods in the Holiday Catalog. Don’t just look at this as a Christmas stamp set, the trees are perfect for year round, all occasion cards!
Learn a New Technique with this Simple One Layer Card
The best way to learn this simple masking and sponging technique is to watch the video. And then, if you have any questions, make sure to ask! This sponging gets a little addicting and soon you will be looking at your stamps differently to see which will work on a simple card like this.
If you are reading this in your email, the video might now show up, so just click below to go to YouTube and watch it. While there, make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss any of my videos!

Love these cards.I have two sons and three grandsons. Now the 5 yr. old is still young enough to do funny cards, the older ones and my sons are hard to do a card for. This will especially be great idea for my 20 yr. old grandson. He is at Western Carolina University which is in the mountains of N.C. His birthday is Nov. 1st.
You sure have been a great help to me. Thanks
Take Care, Jeannette

So glad you liked this Jill. Enjoy your cardmaking!!
Hi Jackie! Love the tips and hints about the masking. Never considered doing it with computer paper and hooking it at the top using the folded edge. Genius. It will save me some masking supplies. Also, the hint about how to ink from the outside edge of the circle to the inside was perfect. I have a tendency to get my circles too deep. Now I can ease things up. Thanks for sharing.
So glad you enjoyed these cards and tips Joy! Thanks for watching (and reading!) 🙂

I’m so glad to hear that is your favorite Roberta! Thanks for watching today!
These cards are simply gorgeous! I am heading to craft room to make some now…. or at least get my card bases ready… have one question first . What size is the circle for cutout ? As I look now, this is an older post. So, I can experiment on size if I don’t get it quite right. LOL.
I love the first card the best although the birches are fabulous as well. Your work is so very inspiring!!!
Katie, to be honest I’m not exactly sure but try starting with a 2″ circle and see how that works and then adjust up or down based on results and what you think looks best. I’m so glad you enjoy the cards!
Thanks, Jackie. I will do exactly that. You are very talented. I rely on those of you who have creative imaginations to keep me making cards!! ??
