New Video: Inking Embossing Folders

Ink your embossing folders for a fun different look. Quick & easy card--but a little messy!

Today’s technique is super easy–but a little messy.  You WILL get inky fingers–but that’s a good thing, right???  Let’s start with the video:

Here is the card!

Video shows how easy this is…..

Using an ink pad, apply ink directly to embossing folder.  Make sure you are applying on the “raised” side that you want the ink to appear.  With the Woodlands folder, it is the side that says “Stampin’ Up!” on it.

Place card stock carefully inside the folder.  Make sure to not move it around.  Close folder and run through Big Shot like you normally do!

and wala…….

I like to start with the cardstock a little bigger than I need.  In this case, it was 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″.  After running through the Big Shot, I cut it down to the size I needed:  5″ x 3 3/4″.

To really bring out the highlights in the tree, I used my Black marker in the little grooves of the trees:

That’s it…..complete the card as desired!  I hope you like this technique.  If you do, please leave me a comment.  I love to hear from you!

  3. Thank you for sharing the video. I’ve always wanted to know how to ink the design in an embossing folder. I will definitely try this technique. (I’ll be careful about the ink getting all over everything. :))

    • Marie, thanks for watching. For embossing with the embossing folders you should use the platform that came with your machine or if you need to order it it’s item # 142802 on page 221 in the 2018-2019 annual catalog. Let me know if you have any other questions!

  7. Thank you for the video Jackie. I am always trying to come up with different ideas for our Veterans that are in a Nursing Home and also for our widows of our one organization.

    • Hi Kim,
I read your comment. I and three other card crafting friends make Christmas cards for 154 Vet’s in our local Veterans Home. Lots of work but so very satisfying come Dec 15th each year when I drop them off. Don’t know if you have asked at yours but we found out there are 4 Jewish vets here so we accommodated them, too.
