Today’s technique is super easy–but a little messy. Â You WILL get inky fingers–but that’s a good thing, right??? Â Let’s start with the video:
Here is the card!
- Whisper White Card Base: Â 11″ x 4 1/4″
- Whisper White: Â 3 3/4″ x 5″
- Basic Black: Â 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″
- Scrap of white for banner
- 1″ Basic Black circle–cut in half
Video shows how easy this is…..
Using an ink pad, apply ink directly to embossing folder. Â Make sure you are applying on the “raised” side that you want the ink to appear. Â With the Woodlands folder, it is the side that says “Stampin’ Up!” on it.
 Â
Place card stock carefully inside the folder. Â Make sure to not move it around. Â Close folder and run through Big Shot like you normally do!
and wala…….
I like to start with the cardstock a little bigger than I need. Â In this case, it was 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″. Â After running through the Big Shot, I cut it down to the size I needed: Â 5″ x 3 3/4″.
To really bring out the highlights in the tree, I used my Black marker in the little grooves of the trees:
 Â
That’s it…..complete the card as desired! Â I hope you like this technique. Â If you do, please leave me a comment. Â I love to hear from you!

Hey Jackie,
I was wondering if you live in Michigan I believe you knew my sister Kim I think you got me started in stampin up many many years ago, I was surfing on Pinterest and came across your site and was pretty sure you were my sister Kim’s friend. I just was wondering.
Always wanted to know how to do it, know i do

Love this idea! Concerned about the clean up of folder. How do you get the ink off?
I wipe off with Baby Wipes
Whew! Finally got the question I was going to ask about clean-up. Thanks. Also I found this post on Pinterest but coukdn’t get the video to open. Can I find it somewhere else?
Thanks for showing how to make the card with the background inked. This is such a great idea and very impressive.
Glad you like. I hope you give it a try.
Thank you for sharing the video. I’ve always wanted to know how to ink the design in an embossing folder. I will definitely try this technique. (I’ll be careful about the ink getting all over everything. :))
I’m so glad you’re inspired to try this technique! Let me know if you have questions. Happy Stamping!

Marie, thanks for watching. For embossing with the embossing folders you should use the platform that came with your machine or if you need to order it it’s item # 142802 on page 221 in the 2018-2019 annual catalog. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Thank you, for your tutorial, you made it look so easy. I love the birch tree card is so pretty. Again
Thank you
Carmen, Thanks for watching. Yes!! I love those birch trees too.
What did you use the black circle for? Sorry if you explained it and I missed it.
It’s just a part of the “greeting” banner towards the bottom of the card.
Jackie–It was such fun to finally meet you in Orlando. Love this card–forgot this technique but you gave a nice refresher. Thanks for sharing

Hello Jackie!
I am a new subscriber. Your card making ideas caught my attention while browsing.
I am new to card making and ‘am fascinated by the myriad of ideas shared. At the moment I
have limited tools to work with but I am happy to try out some of these ideas.
Using the card bases is a great idea. Thanks for sharing the video as well as giving the
measurements for bases. Looking forward to other great ideas.
Welcome Audrey! I’ve got lots of ideas that I think will be perfect for you. If you haven’t already, check out my YouTube channel and the SIP card playlist
Thank you for the video Jackie. I am always trying to come up with different ideas for our Veterans that are in a Nursing Home and also for our widows of our one organization.
What a great work you are doing–thank you! I’m glad this was helpful to you!
Hi Kim,
I read your comment. I and three other card crafting friends make Christmas cards for 154 Vet’s in our local Veterans Home. Lots of work but so very satisfying come Dec 15th each year when I drop them off. Don’t know if you have asked at yours but we found out there are 4 Jewish vets here so we accommodated them, too.
Charli Robinson
That’s awesome Charli! Keep up the great work and enjoy your time making cards with your friends too!
