Last week I shared how I store my ink pads, this week it’s all about how I store my Stampin’ Up! Designer Paper. This is something I have struggled with for years and years, trying many different systems. But I finally found a system that I am in love with. It works! This system is making me feel so organized and I know I will use my papers more, as well as all the little scraps! I found these 12″ x 12″ paper files on Amazon and purchased enough to have one for each pack of Designer Series Paper.
How I Store My Stampin’ Up! Designer Paper
Inside of each file I also have a gallon size freezer ziplock bag. “Freezer bag” is important because it is heavier and holds its shape better. Inside the freezer bag are all the partial pieces and scraps. So when I am using the paper, I first look in the bag to see if there is what I need, and then, if not, I can cut a 12″ x 12″ piece. Boy, do I ever feel organized!! (CLICK HERE to see the files I found on Amazon)
Cute Cards With Animal Expedition DSP
I don’t want this blog post to be too boring, just looking at paper storage, so here are a couple of cards I made using the Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper. I will share these another time with complete details, but wanted to just give you a sneak peak at this adorable paper and Animal Outing stamp set….stay tuned for details!
How I Remember The Colors
Another thing I do, is keep the cardboard backing that comes with the paper in the file. But since the printing is so tiny, I just grab a sharpie marker and write all the colors that are in the paper. Now when I go to use this paper, I have it all super handy and I know exactly what colors coordinate.
I keep all the folders in Paper Files like this one.
DSP Color Chart
Have you printed out the Designer Series Coordinating Color Chart that I share a while back? This is also a great thing to keep handy when stamping. You can always check to see what colors are in all of the different papers! CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD
What About the 6″ x 6″ Packs of DSP?
Well, you will just have to come back. I have a completely different way that I store those that I will share another time!

Could you provide a link for the Paper Files? I could not find them in the Amazon maze.

Thanks so much for the link and your helpful tips.
You’re welcome! Have a great day 🙂
Thanks for sharing. I picked up a couple of ideas from your post that I’m going to use.
I LOVE that you have some new ideas Kate! Enjoy creating 🙂
Thank you so much for sharing your organization solution. I love the idea of keeping the scraps in a separate freezer bag.
Deba, I’m so glad this helped you. There are so many ways to organize but this is what works for me and I hope it helps you too!
Wow I really like this idea thanks for sharing
So glad you like this idea Linda! Happy Crafting!!
Could you post the links for the plastic sleeves and the larger holder you put them in. I am not finding them on Amazon. Thanks, this is just what I need to do with my DSP!
Karen, here is the link
Thank you for the link and the idea. I can’t wait until I can start storing my DSP like this.
You are very welcome.
Enjoy Karen! I hope you enjoy the organization as much as I do 🙂
I also keep the cardstock pack in with the DSP. I write the three cardstock colors on the sheet.
Hi Marylee, glad you found a system that works! Thanks for watching.
I like these paper files for one or two packs of the 12 x 12 DSP. Since I buy cardstock only in 8.5 x 11, my trouble spot is the DSP. You are so right about the thin cellophane wrap the DSP packs come in tearing quickly and easily. This is a great idea to keep them together, so I can find them and their scraps. Thanks so much. Enjoy your day!
Thanks for watching. I hope you enjoy your day too and I’m glad you found this helpful 🙂
Thanks for the link and the idea. I can’t wait to start to store my DSP like this.
Amazon no longer carries this sleeve. Do you/or anyone have another link? Thanks.
I just found them here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009MRKWFK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A2FVWI1N0THHUF&psc=1
They were showing as another “seller” of the product when I used the link I originally shared. Otherwise do a search for them on Amazon.
I love this tip. I’m going to put it to use. I would love to know how you store the 6×6 dsp. ?
I have my 6″ x 6″ in a box from Stamp-n-storage that is for holding dies. I made my own dividers. I will share a picture and info in a post soon. Thanks for asking.
Thanks so much for your answer. I’ll have to look for that.
You’re very welcome! Let me know if you have other questions.
Jackie, these are the most adorable pair of cards for this stamp set. Are you going to be posting directions for them very soon? I HOPE SO!!!!
Thanks for sharing!!!
Yes! I will certainly be sharing the cards in this post so stay tuned 🙂 Thanks for watching.
Jackie,
I love these…..I have used them for the last 3 years and wouldn’t live without them. I know where everything is …. all in one spot!! Thank you for sharing…..hope every one enjoys them as much as I do!!
Thanks Cindy! Enjoy using those papers 🙂
What do you call designer paper ? The paper pads that have designs
Yes, that is correct–the patterned papers–some are found in pads and others are in 12 X 12 double sided sheets.
Jackie,
I just tried to download the 2018 designer series coordinating color chart. Only one page would download. Is there another way to download or can you send it to me please? For me, that would be good to have. I love your craft room and your tips. I especially like the way you store your punches. I have a closet in my craft room and put over the door shoe holders on the inside of the doors for my punches. I do like your idea better. For one thing they could be within reach and I’d probably use them more. As they are I don’t see them at all. Love your blog!
Hi Debbie, not sure what was going on but it seems to be working now. Give it another try.
I will. Thank you!
Love the idea of the ziplocks for the scraps. Thank you for the link to the individual folders. What are you using to hold the folders?
For the individual folders I file them in a paper holder like this
Hi,
I love your craft storage. I really liked the paper files that you use for designer papers . Can you tell me where you purchased the larger container that you store the files in?
I’m glad you enjoyed this post. Cheryl, I honestly don’t recall where I got the large containers…I’ve had them for so long. But if you do a google search for ‘scrapbook paper storage 12 X 12’ you can find a number of ideas that may work with your needs & space. Have a stamp happy day!
Look at some of the other comments, there are links to the paper files and paper holder.
Hi. Love your storage ideas. I found the 12×12 sleeves on amazon but cant find any 12×12 magazine holders to put them in. Any ideas where I can buy some? Tks
I’m glad you found those sleeves! I would try a local office store or a google search for 12X12 paper holders to see what you can find. Thanks for watching!
