Today I’ve got a DIY hack you need to know that will help stamps stick to your acrylic blocks. I hope that you are not disappointed that I’m not sharing a card today but I have been getting a lot of questions about the different types of stamps, so I thought I would do a post and video explaining the options to you to help you get the most of your stamping experience!
The highlight today is the DIY hack you need to know that will help stamps stick to the clear blocks. Do you struggle getting your older stamps to stick to the clear block? I know I do. You’ll appreciate today’s post where I break all of this down for you!
Let’s Start with Cling Stamps
I am going to start with CLING STAMPS because they are the newest addition to the types of stamps Stampin’ Up! carries.
In the new Stampin’ Up! catalog we carry 2 different types of stamps: CLING OR PHOTOPOLYMER. There are no longer Clear-Mount or Wood-Mount. They have done away with the wood blocks, except for a couple big background stamps.
So what are CLING STAMPS? The only thing that is really different from the Clear-Mount is the STICKER. IT’S STICKY!!!! Can I get an Amen???? Finally! The labels/stickers that go onto the stamp will now stick to your clear blocks. and I mean THEY STICK! Make sure to watch the video as I show how to put the stickers on and give a few tips.
Then We Have Photopolymer Stamps
Photopolymer stamps are what many people refer to when they talk about CLEAR stamps. They are clear and I love stamping with them because you can see through them for perfect placement. Because they are thinner, and don’t have any cushion, to get the best results make sure you have some padding underneath when stamping. I like to use the Stampin’ Pierce mat for this.
What About the Older Clear-Mount Stamps
And finally, let’s chat about CLEAR-MOUNT. This is what Stampin’ Up! had in their catalog before the CLING STAMPS. It’s the same red rubber, it’s just the older “sticker” that did not stick very well!!!!! I am so excited that they made this HUGE IMPROVEMENT to their product.
If you have these (which I know a lot of you do,) you may struggle with them sticking to the blocks. Honestly, I never put my stickers on because of this. Now I have to change my ways because I love the new stickers!
You can tell if your stamps are CLING or CLEAR-MOUNT –it ‘s printed on the case. If you have older cases, that do not have the black and white logo like the ones above, they will be CLEAR-MOUNT.

I got my paper haul from you today. I love all the paper and thank you so much for doing this for us.
I’m so glad you got it and I hope you’ll have fun creating with it! Happy Stamping!!
Thanks for the easy solution for the frustration on non sticky stamps.
You’re welcome! I hope that it was helpful to you!
I’m having this problem with my red rubber stamps on EZMount. When it ages it loses the stickiness. Can I apply the tombow to EZMount also?
I’m not sure. I recommend this new product here
I recently purchased a used stamp set (Falling Flowers) from a demonstrator. It has a green header on the box and doesn’t say Cling Mount or Clear Mount…The issue is the stamp sticking to the acrylic block…While most of them stick (1 doesn’t) to the block, the “sticky” on the stamp is veeerrrry gluey. When removed from the block, it leaves a gummy residue which is difficult to get off the block. How would I clean the sticker to get the gummy part off without ruining the sticker and yet have it be sticky enough to stick to the block?
Gosh I really have not encountered that problem before and I am not sure what to suggest–sorry.
Try using a little WD-40 to clean the blocks.
Hi Jackie, Is there such a paper that has pine needles on it in light blues. thankyou.

I’m so happy to hear that you are busy making cards and spreading that joy–for yourself and others! Bless you too and have a stamp happy day!
Thank you so much for this tip. I have an old set, Lovely as a Tree, that I haven’t used because of the no stick problem. Now, I’ll mount the stickers and glue them and I’ll be off and running. I had stuck the set away and came across it awhile back and know I stuck it away because of the no stick. So, thank you a bunch.
Stay tuned Karla! In a couple of weeks (starting June 3, 2020) you’ll be able to order new cling adhesive for those older stamps to convert them where they will stick like the new ones do. The cling adhesive is on page 162 of the new catalog; you get 168 adhesive strips for $8.00 (USD). Hope this helps!
