Let’s face it, we have fabulous cardstock colors and great coordination with ribbons, embellishments, designer paper and more with Stampin’ Up! The coordination gives us the best card making supplies so that our cards turn out fabulous every time but sometimes we still need help knowing which cardstock papers create winning color combinations, right? This color coach tool will help you get winning color combinations every time!

I’m also sharing a card today that is fun, bright and a bit of a “throwback” to some handmade cards I previously shared a couple of years ago. I decided to post it again because it will teach you how to come up with winning color combinations, as well as providing you with lots of tips for using the Big Shot and learning how to use the Embossing Mats. You may have purchased the embossing mats back when they were available and now they sit and you don’t know what to do with them–let’s change that today!

However, if you don’t have the embossing mats, that’s ok! You can sill create these fun bold cards and the color coach.  I really love all the different greetings in this stamp set.  It’s called STITCHED ALL AROUND.

Choose Winning Color Combinations & Make Your Own Color Coach

Our video today shares several quick tips for using the Stitched All Around stamp set and coordinating Stitched Labels Framelits.  The “stitched look” is so popular today and I love that we keep getting more framelits with the stitching.  It will also teach you how to find color combinations, as well as how to use the Embossing Mats in your Big Shot if you have them.  Just so you know, these are no longer available, but I know many of you have them.  If you don’t, you absolutely make these cards very similar to my examples.

How To Come Up With Winning Color Combinations

The main point I want to share with you today is how to make your own Color Coach.  This is a great way to come up with different color combinations that you may not try on your own.

What is a Color Coach?

Every current Stampin’ Up! color has it’s own “page” with 3 different color combinations that look awesome together.  When you are stamping, and not quite sure what colors to put together, you just grab this coach and you have limitless options!  I use it all the time.  Often I know I want to use a specific color, like Coastal Cabana, so I simply turn to that page and look at some of the options for other colors to use.

Make Your Own Color Coach

I have several free downloads for you so that you can make your very own Color Coach.  After you download and print them, you can make your “coach” however you want.

I printed mine on Whisper White Cardstock and then cut them down to 2 3/4″ x 3 3/4″. Then I layered them onto 3″ x 4″ pieces of colored cardstock.  For added protection, I laminated them.  You probably don’t really have to do this, but I liked how sturdy it made them.  To keep them in order, I punched holes in the upper left and put them all on a big ring.  I have them in the same order that I store my cardstock and ink pads.

Another option would be to keep them as 8 1/2″ x 11″ sheets and put into a binder–do what works for you and keep them handy so you can use them often!

I think this is my favorite!  The Gorgeous Grape truly lives up to it’s name–it is GORGEOUS!  And check out all that fun stitching!

Card Recipe

• Gorgeous Grape:  8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored and folded at 4 1/4″
• Gorgeous Grape:  4″ x 5 1/4″
• Scraps:  Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Coastal Cabana
• Silver & Pool Party Baker’s Twine (sorry, this is retired)
• Inside:  Whisper White:  4″ x 5 1/4″
• All supplies used are shown at the bottom of the post

Card #2

Next I used Melon Mambo for the card base.  Oh I wish you could see these fun and quick cards in person because the pictures just don’t do justice to the colors.

Card Recipe

• Melon Mambo:  8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored and folded at 4 1/4″
• Scraps:  Whisper White, Gorgeous Grape, Coastal Cabana
• Inside:  Whisper White:  4″ x 5 1/4″
• All supplies used are shown at the bottom of the post

Note:  Since these are some “throwback” cards that I shared a couple of years ago, The Baker’s Twine and this embossing folder that I used are no longer available.  You could substitute any embossing folder for this card and it would look fabulous!

• Scraps:  Whisper White & Melon Mambo (ooppss, I did not use Gorgeous Grape on this one)
