I’ve got a WOW look you’ve got to see! 2 sponging techniques for handmade cards that turn out beautifully! This card technique is easy and pretty quick, and fun!
I don’t usually do a lot of “tecnhique” kinds of things on my cards, but this is an easy sponging technique that works perfect with the Flowering Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper. Have you seen this paper? It’s a new Sale-a-bration item that can select with your $50 order by March 31st. Oh, and trust me–you want this paper. It is the most gorgeous paper I have ever seen.
Sponging Techniques That Are Easy
For the top 2 cards I used my sponge brayers to add the color to the paper. Make sure to watch the video for tips as to how to do this. I have not done it in a long long time, but it was super easy and I think I will be hauling out these sponge brayers more often!
Sponging Techniques: 2 Ways to Get WOW Results with a Little Ink
2 Ways to Get WOW Results with a Little Ink – In the video I teach how to use both the sponge brayers and the sponge daubers. Whichever method you choose your cards will be a WOW! Try these 2 sponging techniques along with me; just pause the video when and where you need to and take your time!
Let’s Take a Look at the Cards
For this first one I just sponged on with the sponge brayer and Coastal Cabana ink. The trick is to go over and over until you get the color you want.
Card Recipe:
- Coastal Cabana: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″
- Silver Foil: 5″ x 3 3/4″
- Flowering Foils DSP: 4 3/4″ x 3 1/2″
Other Products Used:
- So Sentimental stamp set & Stitched so Sweetly Dies
- Sponge Brayer
- Silver Metallic Edged Ribbon
This paper was super hard to photograph. I think in the video you can see how pretty these cards are much better than in these pictures.
Sponge on 2 Different Colors
For this next card I used both Coastal Cabana and Granny Apple. If you follow me on Facebook, you did get a sneak peak of this card when I was deciding what color to stamp the greeting in. The Coastal Cabana ink got the most votes, so here you go!
Card Recipe:
- Granny Apple Green: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″
- Silver Foil: 5″ x 3 3/4″
- Flowering Foils DSP: 4 7/8″ x 3 5/8″
Other Products Used:
- So Sentimental stamp set & Stitched so Sweetly Dies
- Sponge Brayer
- Silver Metallic Edged Ribbon
My Favorite
For this one I used sponge daubers–another easy sponging technique.

- Flowering Foils DSP: 4″ x 5 1/4″
- Whisper White: 5/8″ x 4″
- Basic Black: 1″ x 4″
Stamps: Peaceful Moments
And the last one… This one I did not do any sponging on, just used the paper.
I wanted to make sure to use all 4 papers, so this one doesn’t have any paper. But I sure love the Rose Gold with the black.
