Who Else Wants Easy Ways to Use Stencils For Card Making?

I love card making techniques that are easy. Using stencils for card making to blend a background color is so cool. Honestly, I have had these stencils for a long time and never touched them. I finally decided to play and oh my goodness, what easy wonderful backgrounds you can make!

Why have I not tried these stencils for card making before??

It was so easy to use a Blending Brush and add some ink. You could cover the whole card layer, but I really liked the look of it partially stenciled and then fading away.

Stencil Card Details

After making the stenciled background, I added a few die cuts and a greeting. Easy Peasy!

These dies are one of my favorites. They are from the Nature’s Harvest bundle–one I have used quite a bit lately.

Supplies & Measurements

• Crumb Cake Card Base: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″
• Basic White: 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″
• Soft Suede: 3 5/8″ x 4 7/8″

Stencils for card making backgrounds was easy using the Blending Brush; and it was not messy at all. Now I want more and more of these stencils…..they are so fun!

You could also use a sponge, but the blending brushes give a smoother, even look.

How to Make “Splatters” (View Video to See This)

So often you see “splatters” on cards, and I have struggled with figuring out the easiest (and not messy) way to do this. Alas, I think I have the perfect easy way to do!

I stamped a clear block directly onto an ink pad.

Use the Water Painter to dilute the ink and pick up a little on your brush.

For the actually “splatters” hold a pencil or pen under the Water Painter and tap the brush against it over the project you want to ‘splatter’, it worked perfectly.

Play around with how much ink/water to have on the brush, and how far from your cardstock you should be.

This was quite hard to explain, so make sure to check out the video (around 13:20 mark) where I show how easy it is!
