The Stampin’ Up! Cut & Emboss Machine is my absolutely MUST-HAVE paper crafting tool. I use it on probably 75% of all the cards I make. I use it for die cutting my images or for embossing layers to add texture to my cards. I can’t imagine crafting without it by my side! There are three different versions of the Cut & Emboss Machine available…
Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine
Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine
Limited Edition Boho Blue Mini
When asked which I recommend if you’re buying this machine for the first time, I’ll tell you the full-sized machine. With the full size, you’ll be able to use all dies and all embossing folders. The mini machine is limited on what will fit in it, but it is great for traveling or small spaces. I often grab my mini machine when using small dies, but overall, I prefer the large one.
I have a few old videos I’m sharing below that have all my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine tips and tricks. It’s a lot easier to explain how to best use this stamping tool in video than trying to type it all out here – so please give them a watch and then let me know what questions you may still have! We’re talking die cutting tips, embossing folder tips, a fun and easy embossing fold technique, how to use hybrid embossing folder tips, and Jesi has tips to share with you as a beginner card maker using the Mini Machine!
Please note: The videos are from several years ago. Most of the dies and embossing folders featured are retired and no longer available. But the content of the videos is relevant and great to learn from!
Die Cutting Tips with the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine
Here is a video from a couple of years ago where I go through everything you need to know to use the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine for die cutting. The die cutting tips in this video are also applicable if you have the old BIG SHOT Die Cutting Machine that Stampin’ Up! used to carry.
“Sandwich” Guide Resource Download
The key to successfully using your machine is to have the correct plates, in the correct order. I have put together a guide for you that is available on the RESOURCE PAGE of this website. You can download it and print it out. It will help you remember what plates to use depending on whether you are die-cutting or embossing.
Embossing Folder Tips with the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine
The other thing that I use my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine for all the time is embossing. This adds so much dimension to your card and is simple and fun! Again, here is a video that goes through everything you need to know for using embossing folders.
Fun Technique With Embossing Folders
As long as we are talking about Embossing Folders… here is another “old” video that shows how you can get unique and fun designs by inking your embossing folder. This video does show using my old Big Shot Machine, however, everything is the same for using the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. Just follow the “sandwich” guidelines for the embossing folder you are using!
How To Use Hybrid Embossing Folders
There are specialty embossing folders called Hybrid Embossing Folders. They are a combination of an embossing folder and a die! They work together to do both things. (They are quite amazing!) Here is a video showing you how to use them, along with several tips for best results. Again, the ones shown in the video are retired, but there are others available.
Die Cutting Tips From A Beginner Card Maker
And one more Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine tips video! This is a fun project that Jesi shared not too long ago. She uses the Mini Machine for some quick die cutting to add simple texture to note cards. This is a great for beginners… because if Jesi has learned to love this machine I know you will too!
