Make a Card With Dave & I and Spread Some Joy | Simple Stamping

Hello crafty friends!  What a couple of weeks it has been as we all try to find what our “current normal” is.  As crafters/card makers, it’s our time to spread some joy with a handmade card so I want you to make a card along with Dave & I today. It’s good for you and it’s good for your family & friends to craft along with you, and of course the recipient of your cards receives joy too!

Let’s make a card that is a fun card layout and uses up all that Designer Series Paper (some of you know it as scrapbook paper) you have laying around.  It’s a fun way to make 4 simple cards at one time.

Since Dave is working from home right now, I decided to have him help me with the video.  Make sure you watch to see all this mad card making skills (and come alongside of us and make a card yourself)!

Easy Layout to Make 4 Cards

make-a-card-handmade-with-simple-design

You are going to start with 4 pieces of Designer Series Paper that are 4″ x 5 1/4″

First cut at the 2 1/2″, then cut each of the 2 pieces as shown.

Do this with all 4 pieces

Now it’s time to mix and match them for the 4 cards.

You will adhere them to a piece of Whisper White that is 4″ x 5 1/4″

After adhering the 4 pieces, trim it down to 3 3/4″ x 5″ and layer onto coordinating card stock that is 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″

This many sound confusing, but watch the video because it’s so easy that even Dave can do it!

Then, just finish off your 4 cards!

My Version

I made a set also using the Bird Ballad DSP.

Thanks for a great video! Love this card idea. I am not hoarding t. p. ,but I am a paper hoarder! I need to go back and watch Dave’s other videos. They will certainly be a welcome relief during these changing times. Thanks to both of you for putting a smile on my face! And, Jackie thanks for sharing all your wonderful ideas!

  10. Fun video and great way to use DSP and get four cards done in very little time. Dave did very well. Beginners always use to much glue. Thank you Jackie for a great video.

  12. Jackie – this was great fun. I love watching your videos always but this was a joyful break in my day. My ex-hubby often helps me cut paper and prep for classes. He has even given me a couple of helpful ideas ( he is an engineering tech and looks at things with a different eye). A few years ago, I did a little mini workshop with three of my sons 20ish friends to make valentines for their mom’s or girlfriends and they had a blast. Even now if they stop over they express an interest in seeing what I am working on now. A thousand times thanks for sharing your skills, your smile and today your honey. He cracked me up with his fascination with the bone folder.

Your videos are wonderful – thanks for doing them. I am a silver Demo in MN, single now – working a few more years than planned but hope to sometime in the next 5 years retire and push harder to become silver elite. Hugs, Dawn ( I call myself the scrappy stamper, because I use lots of my scraps)

It was ironic that just before you showed your girly cards, I had already thought that was the DSP set I was going to use to make up some similar cards to send to my shut-in Aunties and a couple older cousins.,

  15. Yes, by all means invite your husband to do cards more often. What a treat. I love the interaction between you two. I have been married for 40 years this year and it is fun to see others who still enjoy being with their spouse and have fun. Good for the younger ones to see also. Back to your cards. You are an inspiration to me. I love these cards and I was excited to use more of my DSP I have been hoarding. We need to be sending lots of cards to let others know we do think of them especially our shut ins at nursing homes. My sister is one of them. So keep up your good work and fight the good fight.
