Hats Off, Stampin’ Up! | Video

This video was originally shared as a YouTube Live, but if you missed it, you can watch the replay here. I hope you see all the fun possibilities of the ‘Hats Off’ Stampin’ Up! bundle!

🔥 Well, what do you think? What kind of hats do you want to make? I can’t wait to hear!

I think it will be so fun to make customized “hats” for everyone in my family for their next birthday card!

Different Hat Options

You can stamp and die cut. Or just die cut. You can cut multiple hats and cut apart and mix and match.

The video tutorial shows you several different ways to use the stamps/dies together. Below you will find pictures of them, as well as card measurements for making your completed cards. You can add any greeting to make a Hats’ Off card for any occasion!

Just Die Cut

For these 2 cards I used only the dies. (most of mine I stamped, then cut, but this is also an option!)

For each of these, I cut 1 hat from one color of cardstock, and another from a different color or DSP. Then, I cut them apart and glued the “brim” over the “base” hat.

The video gives you all the tips of cutting and putting these hats together.

Measurements:

  • Card Base: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ (Smoky Slate, Basic White Thick)
  • Top Layer: 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″ (Poppy Parade DSP, Smoky Slate stamped with Birch Background Stamp)
  • Other Layer: 3 5/8″ x 4 5/8″ (Basic White, Basic Black)

Stamp Image, Die Cut, Mix & Match

Another option is to use the hat stamp to stamp your image and then die cut it. This gives the hat more details and dimension.

For these, I stamped 2 hats out of cardstock and 1 with the coordinating DSP. Then, I cut out with the die and cut the DSP hat into 2 pieces to mix and match!

Can you see the “texture” on the hat on the right side? Before I adhered the “brim” of the hat, I ran the stamped cardstock hat through the embossing machine using the Textile Embossing folder!

Here is another card (same measurements as card above on right) with hats that show some texture, plus examples of how to mix & match cardstock and designer paper to make these.

And the ideas go on and on and on…..

The one thing you will notice on these, is when I was mix and matching, I only cut off the very front of the hat. So the brim and the back are the same color.

Use a black marker to make ‘hash lines’ on the back to make it look like a mesh hat.

You’ll notice on some of the hats that I have shared, there are different logos that are not stamps. I found these online and printed them out out with my printer.

  3. Loved the video! Do you have to get permission to use the logos like John Deere, Cardinals? I sell a few cards and I certainly don’t want to get into trouble if I was to use the Boston teams. Thanks!

    • I can’t advise you on the legalities; I’m so sorry! But…if I were you I would not use those logos for cards you sell without asking permission and getting that permission in writing.
