Hello stampers! Have you seen the ‘Flowers for Every Season’ Suite?! I’m sharing some card inspiration with you today that includes a cool making idea too.
I am taking today off from a video and blogging, but I have a fun project to share that will show you the masking technique, as well as a few projects with the Flowers for Every Season Suite. These are such gorgeous products and truly “for every season.”
Flowers for Every Season Suite
Long before it was a Covid-19 thing, stampers were masking – in a fun way!
Crafters make masking cool and I’m excited to share this simple and useful stamping technique with you. This card also features several new products from the gorgeous Flowers For Every Season Suite.
Masking is a simple technique that blocks off areas of a project to create white space. It can create a faux layering effect or highlight an area for a greeting or focal point. Masking can be loose and artsy with torn edges or precise straight lines or shapes depending on what you use to create your mask.

Flowers For Every Season Sketch
Here is the sketch showing this card and the measurements. It’s also a great sketch to use with other products!

Instructions for Making This Card
1) Cut Misty Moonlight cardstock to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″. Score at 4-1/4″ along the 8-1/2″ side. Fold on score line and burnish with a Bone Folder.
2) Cut Misty Moonlight dotted Flowers For Every Season 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper to 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″. Adhere to card front.
3) Cut Thick Whisper White cardstock to 4-3/4″ x 3-1/2″. Place on Grid Paper to make lining up the mask easier.
4) To create a mask, tear strips of stick notes about 1″ wide keeping the sticky edge to help hold the mask in place. You’ll need a couple strips to cover the width of the Whisper White layer.
5) Center mask strips over the Thick Whisper White cardstock. Don’t worry if excess length hangs off the edges. Use the Grid Paper lines to help get the mask straight.
6) Ink large sunflower from Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set with Cinnamon Cider ink. Stamp on top left corner of the Thick Whisper White cardstock so the image goes a bit off the top and left edges. Re-ink the stamp and stamp at the bottom right corner and close to the first sunflower.
7) Leave the mask in place and color sunflower petals with the light and dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. Since the image is stamped with Classic Ink in may bleed a bit so color gently with light blending.
8) Once you are done coloring, remove the masks to reveal the un-stamped strip. Use the fine-tip end of the Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Marker to freehand two lines just inside the top and bottom edges of the masked area. If you prefer you can use a ruler, but the imperfect lines look best with the torn edge of the masking.
9) Stamp Greeting from the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set in the center of the masked area with Misty Moonlight ink.
10) Add 5 of the Misty Moonlight 2020–2022 In Color Enamel Dots scattered above and below the masked area.
11) Add Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the Whisper White cardstock and then adhere the layer centered on the card front.
TIPS: Sticky notes are ideal for creating torn, punched, or die-cut masks because they are thin and the sticky section helps hold them in place temporarily without damaging your paper or cardstock.
