Beginning Card Making Part 2 is full of stamping tips, how-to’s, and easy card making ideas anyone can make.
Are you new to card making? Or just getting started and a bit confused as to how to start? Are you overwhelmed with the large product selection? I am here to help!
Beginning Card Making Part 2 kicks off with sharing a great grouping of products to help you get started, without the overwhelm!
Let’s talk about the basics–Choosing the right products and learning tons of tips so that you enjoy card making, stamping, and paper crafting in general. Join me on the journey!

I like to teach people to start with a SIP. Stamps, ink and paper! That is all you need to start and will prevent you from being overwhelmed.
When selecting a stamp set, you want to make sure it’s versatile so you can get many different looks from it. A good variety of greetings also helps. One of my favorites for beginning card making is the ‘Sweet as a Peach’ stamp set.

Beginning Card Making Part 2: Start with a SIP – Stamps, Paper & Ink!
When you think in terms of a SIP, you can select any stamp set. Then, select the colors and paper to go with that set.

Start with Note Cards & Envelopes! You don’t have to cut any cardstock and they come in a package of 20. As a beginner, you will be all ready to make some cards and send them off to family and friends.

Make sure to stamp the inside of your card as well as the envelope.

This stamp set has many different “words” and greetings! Mix and match to put together your perfect greeting.

How To Step-Up Your Cards To The Next Level
Once you have the basics down, it is easy to step up your cards a little by adding a couple of layers of cardstock.
Besides the notecards, I used some Basic White and Basic Black card stock for a couple of layers.
- Basic White: 3″ x 4 1/2″
- Basic Black: 3 1/8″ x 4 5/8″
- If you don’t like cutting in 1/8’s, you could cut the black to 3 1/4″ x 4 3/4″

You certainly could add a few more colors to the mix, especially for the flowers. But I wanted to keep the selection of products I was using to a minimum.

Now you’ve got the basics of Beginning Card Making and you’re ready to create! If you’d like to place an order for any of these items, I put them together in a nice list for you. If you do not already have a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator and would like a catalog, just click the button below to request one. Personally–I like to shop from the catalog the best, and then order online. The Stampin’ Up! website is a bit cumbersome to easily see all the products.
