Welcome to Class 11 of our Card Making 101 series – our final class! Throughout this series, we’ve explored the basics, designed and stamped beautiful cards, and even stepped them up with simple techniques. Now, as you prepare to graduate from Card Making 101, there’s one final question to answer: Where do you find card ideas to make? Card inspiration is all around you! For beginner card makers, it’s important to know that it’s perfectly okay to copy designs you love. In the paper crafting world, you’ll often hear the term CASE, which stands for “Copy And Share Everything.” If you see a design that inspires you, go ahead and recreate it. Make it your own by adding a personal touch or adjusting it to fit your style. Remember, card making is all about sharing creativity and keeping the inspiration flowing – and we’re here to help you do just that!
In class 11 of our Card Making 101 series, you’ll learn about the different places to find ideas including:
- Card Templates Resource Book
- Monthly Card Making Templates Classes
- Color Coach
- Stampin’ Up! Catalog
- E-mail List
- Social Media: YouTube, Pinterest, Facebook, & Instagram

Card Making 101, Class 11
In this video class, I (Jackie, an experienced card maker) teach Jesi (my daughter, a new card maker) about the different places she can go to find card inspiration. We hope that if you’re also new to making cards you can learn alongside Jesi and build your knowledge and confidence as she does and become a graduate of Card Making 101!
There’s a lot more information shared in the video class than what’s written below. So make sure to give it a watch to learn about all the different ways to find card inspiration for your handmade cards!
Places To Find Card Ideas To Make
A good place to find card inspiration is our Card Making Templates Book! This book includes the measurements for 48 different card layouts along with 96 different card ideas. CLICK HERE to shop for your copy.

The first card pictured (Layering Leaves stamp set) was created by following the measurements of Template #26. The set of cards pictured (Cheerful Daisies stamp set) was created by following the measurements of Templates #8, #17, #22, and #34. Make sure to watch the video class to hear more about how I was inspired by templates to make these cards!
You can also get all the measurements for the 48 templates for free by watching each Card Making Template Class on YouTube. CLICK HERE for the playlist with all 12 classes.

In addition to the Layering Leaves card being inspired by a template, the colors I chose to create with were inspired by using a Color Coach. A Color Coach is a tool you can use to help put together color combinations. You start by selecting one color you want to create with, and then the color coach will give you three different combinations of colors that look fantastic together!

Another great place to get card ideas is the Stampin’ Up! catalog! The catalog is filled with card inspiration for different products, layouts, and techniques. You can also find more card ideas on the online store. Search for a stamp set you have or want and you’ll find a few ideas.
