Welcome to Class 8 of our Card Making 101 series! In our previous class, we began designing handmade cards using the SIP method – Stamps, Ink, and Paper – an easy and effective way to create simple yet beautiful cards. Today, we’re going to take those same SIP cards we already made and step them up. I want to share with you a few simple ways to step up your cards that will not require you to purchase many additional supplies. To help inspire your creativity, we’ve also included a free downloadable inspiration sheet with simple ways to step up your cards – let’s take your card making skills to the next level!
In class 8 of our Card Making 101 series, you’ll learn simple ways to step up your cards by:
- Cutting and/or punching your sentiment layer
- Adding a small bow
- Adding embellishments

Card Making 101, Class 8
In this video class, I (Jackie, an experienced card maker) teach Jesi (my daughter, a beginner card maker) different ideas to step up her handmade cards. We hope that if you’re also a beginner card maker you can learn simple ways to step up your cards alongside Jesi and build your knowledge and confidence as she does.
There’s a lot more information shared in the video class than what’s written below. So make sure to give it a watch to learn simple ways to step up your cards!

Stamping with a SIP is and easy way to make beautiful handmade cards, but adding a few small embellishments can really change the look of the card! I love all three of these cards, and really don’t think one is better than the other.
If you’re a beginner card maker, don’t be overwhelmed by all the “stuff” out there! A limited amount of supplies can go a long way.
