Hello my stamping friends! I’m just gonna say it outright– You NEED this! 13 fast and super fun DIY cards!
Today I have a different type of post for you (and hopefully every Thursday) where I am going to “bring back” a stamp set that in the past I created a lot of cards with but have not shown the stamp set in a while…. I guess they call these “throw back” posts. I know I always get so wrapped up in the “new stuff” that I forget about all the awesome stamps and projects I have made in the past. And if you are NEW to stamping, NEW to Stampin’ Up! and/or NEW to following me, these are projects that you may have missed! One stamp set & so many ideas is kinda my stamping mantra anyways, so this is right up my ally. And it will be fun to bring back the old and forgotten….
Swirly Bird
I am going to kick off this new featured post by bringing back SWIRLY BIRD. I used this set to death back when it first came out. It has awesome big bold images and there are so many different things you can do with it. And, there are also coordinating thinlits! You will find the stamp set on page 159 of the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog.
One Stamp Set & So Many Ideas
Like I said, these are all cards I made and posted several years ago, but since this fun stamp set is still available, I thought I would share again! Some of the colors, embellishments and “greetings” may be retired now, but you absolutely could copy these ideas and adjust a bit. As you will see, there are so many ways to use the pieces in this stamp set!
Please keep in mind that I am re-sharing old photo’s, so the sizing and photography may look differently than today. But I hope you still enjoy getting all these ideas!
Just like I still do today, I love to grab just a few colors and a greeting set and come up with lots of ideas!
Free Tutorial
This stamp set was featured as a card kit way back when. Since I am showing all these ideas today, I thought I would also share the video & tutorial with you from when I did the card kit. The video shows lots of tips for making the cards in the tutorial, but also for using this stamp set in general. Just like with the pictures, keep in mind that this is an OLD VIDEO and may look a bit different than what you are used to from me.

More Card Ideas
Like I said…..I made a lot of cards with this stamp set!!!
Since these are all old cards, from old posts, I am sorry that I don’t have all the details and recipes….but I hope if you like this set, just seeing all these ideas will inspire you! The set is fun and easy to work with and so very versatile.
Can you tell how much I loved this stamp set. It is still available to purchase, but my gut feeling is it may retire when the new catalog comes out in June. So, if you like it, make sure to grab it now along with the coordinating Thinlits (we all know how thinlits tend to sell out when it’s announced that they are retiring.
I would love to hear from you!
If you have any questions or anything you’d like to share with me, please leave me a comment! I love to hear from my stamping friends.

Oh I like this!!! Thank you, for doing this. I’m sure I’m not the only one who wants to keep using sets I have gotten. Great card ideas.
That’s exactly why I brought these back Jesse!!
I love your idea of going “back in time ” to show the oldies but goodies! They are dusted off and are like brand new stamp sets! Thank you, and PLEASE continue to do that each week to refresh our creativity!
I’m so glad that you enjoyed these ideas Shirley! Yes…I’ll be bringing more of them!
Thank you for sharing these beautiful ideas! I haven’t used this stamp set very often because I had no idea of what to do with it. Now I have inspiration from you!
I’m so glad you have some new inspiration as a jump start!!
Can these framelets be used with a cuddlebug machine? If so, do you still recommend using the same plates you discussed?
Kelli, I do use these on my Cuddlebug or my Big Shot machine. Works great on either one.
Thanks for chiming in Beth!!
Kelli, I do not have a cuddlebug so I can’t speak from personal experience but the framelits should be fine to use. If your machine has a similar platform to the big shot then it should be the same plate ‘sandwich’.
They’re great, Jackie! TFS Makes me want to dig this set out again.
Well that’s my goal Sue! 🙂
Jackie, your cards are adorable. This stamp set is great. When I first got it, I have to admit I wasn’t very impressed and put it on a shelf. But, once I began actually using the set, I was in love with it. The cards you make can be as intricate or as simple as you want them to be. This is a great set to use with the stamp, ink, paper challenges going on lately. Thank you for sharing your ideas and the video with good tips.
I’m so glad you got it off the shelf and decided to create with it Beth!
Jackie,
I love your idea of using past stamps. I have so many that stamps that aren’t being used. Please keep doing this each week!!
Much appreciated!
I’m so glad you enjoyed this! Yes, I’ll keep doing this for a while so stay tuned!
Beautiful cards – love this idea. Thanks for all your inspiration
I’m so glad you enjoyed these cards Debbie!
I love Swirly Bird and used it a lot when I first got it. Thank you for reminding me it is on my shelf. Loved your samples and I am going to stamp with it NOW! Thanks again. BTW I love the idea you have for showcasing older stamp sets.
Yes!! Have fun stamping!!
Thank you for showing an oldie but a goodie! I’ll be pulling out the Swirly bird set and giving it some love. Thanks for another five star video! As always YOU post the best SU videos, clear, concise and so helpful & full of inspiration.
Thanks for brightening my day with that comment Caroline :). I’m so glad you enjoy my style of ideas and the way I share them. See you here again soon!!
Thank you for reminding me to get this set into action . When I first got it I used it a lot and loved the versatility of it . BUT ! the new sets came on the scene and I forgot about my little SWIRLY PALS !!! I will be using it with all those butterflies I have collected this year !
I always enjoy your cards and tips !!
Sonny, Your cards will look beautiful and pairing Swirly bird with butterflies will be super fun 🙂
Thank you so much for all these ideas and your hard work! I’m so thankful you go back to old stamp sets because at different times in your life a stamp set will grab your attention and other times they don’t. I am glad you revisited this cuz this stamp set always stumped me even though I liked it, bought it and have it on my shelf but have rarely used it.
Thanks again!! I’m inspired to get it off the shelf and use it!
I’m so happy to hear you got some new ideas from this video to try with this stamp set :). Yes!!! Dust that stamp set off and have fun stamping with it!
