48 Card Making Templates in One Book

We are so excited to give you a closer look at our brand-new Creativity Made Simple Card Making Templates Book! In the video below, we’ll walk you through all the details—how we pulled together every template from the past year’s Creativity Made Simple series and added 9 brand-new designs to round it out to a full set of 48 templates. You’ll see how the book is organized, why it’s the perfect resource for quick and easy card making, and how it can help spark fresh inspiration every time you sit down to create.

How to Use Our Card Making Templates

Our Creativity Made Simple templates are designed to give you a starting point for your card layouts. Think of them as a guide—you can follow them exactly, or switch things up by using different stamps, papers, and embellishments to make the design your own. The beauty of templates is that they spark inspiration while leaving plenty of room for creativity. Below you’ll find some picture examples that show how one template can be adapted in many different ways.

Card making template example showing a simple layout sketch with measurements, designed to help create quick and easy handmade cards using different papers, stamps, and embellishments.

This template isn’t part of the new book, but it’s still a great tool to explore! It shows how even the simplest layout can be used as a jumping-off point to create many different card variations. Start with the basic measurements below, then customize with your favorite stamps, papers, and embellishments to make it uniquely yours.

Template Measurements:

  • Card Base: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • DSP or Cardstock: (2) pieces – 1″ x 5 1/4″
  • DSP or Cardstock: 1 3/4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Sentiment: Any shape or size

Next, I’ll show you four unique card ideas built from this template using the Love & Strength stamp set—proof that one design can spark endless creativity!

Creative card variation with template rotated horizontally; vertical DSP strips adjusted to 1" x 4 1/4" and 1 3/4" x 4 1/4" for a fresh, modified layout.

Card Idea #1 – For this design, I got a little extra creative! I rotated the template horizontally but kept the DSP strips running vertically. To make it work, I adjusted the measurements—keeping the strip widths the same as the template, but trimming 1″ off the length. That gave me (2) strips at 1″ x 4 1/4″ and (1) strip at 1 3/4″ x 4 1/4″. A simple tweak that gives the template a whole new look!

Embossed background card made by rotating the template; cardstock embossed, cut to size, and accented with an extra embossed strip added inside the card.

Card Idea #2 – To switch things up, I rotated the template for a whole new look. For the background, I embossed a full 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ piece of cardstock, then trimmed it down to match the template measurements. The bonus? I had an extra embossed strip left over, which can make the perfect accent to add to the inside of the card!

Handmade card using Designer Series Paper with a circle focal point cut from the Spotlight on Nature dies, stamped flower image, and heat-embossed sentiment.

Card Idea #3 – For this card, I stayed true to the template by starting with Designer Series Paper as the background. Then, I created a focal point by layering a die-cut circle (from the Spotlight on Nature dies), stamping the flower, and finishing it off with a heat-embossed sentiment.

Card featuring a stamped background on cardstock cut to template measurements, with a small focal image created using Spotlight on Nature dies and a heat-embossed sentiment in the corner.

Card Idea #4 – This time, I skipped the Designer Series Paper and created my own background by stamping directly onto cardstock, then trimming it to fit the template measurements. I added a simple focal point with the Spotlight on Nature dies, a stamped image, and a heat-embossed sentiment, placing it in the bottom corner for a fresh twist on the layout.
