Create These Designer Series Paper Cards in Less Than 5 Minutes

If you are a new card maker or just like to make quick and easy cards, I have the perfect project for you. You can create two Designer Series Paper cards in under 5 minutes with this easy-cutting diagram! It’s time to use up some of the Designer Series Paper (DSP) that you have been stashing and make some easy cards.

This card design lets the paper do most of the work for you! Simply use some coordinating cardstock and a greeting or sentiment of your choice. Use the diagram that I have below to cut a 6″ x 6″ piece of DSP to create the 2 cards. Make sure to also check out the video as I have a lot of paper-cutting tips for you!

Cards sentiments on them, 1 says thinking of you and the other congratulations. Designer series paper is a pink floral design.

The Designer Series Paper that I used to create these two cards is called HELLO, IRRESISTIBLE, and is available as a part of Stampin’ Up!’s Online Exclusive releases. (at the writing of this post, it was still available).

But, the best part of this card design is that you can use any DSP along with this cutting diagram to make Designer Series Paper cards!

Are you ready? Let’s create…

The products used in this video were available for purchase at the time of filming (the list is below.) If something does not show in the list, it is either retired or no longer available.

Did you catch all the tips I shared, especially while cutting the card stock? Usually, I have things pre-cut, but in this video, I did all the cutting for both of the cards. Hopefully, this helps you see how easy it is to start with 8 1/2″ x 11″ pieces of cardstock, plus 6″ x 6″ pieces of DSP, and make some quick and easy cards.

Supplies & Cutting Information for Designer Series Paper Cards

First, you will want to select your piece of Designer Series Paper and then your coordinating cardstock. Remember, this project is being shared to teach you how to use any papers you may already have! I used the HELLO, IRRESISTIBLE, but you can use any!

Use the diagram below to cut your 6″ x 6″ piece of Designer Series Paper. As you can see, there is very little scrap or waste.

To complete the cards, you will need the following coordinating card stock:

  • 2 Card Bases – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″
  • Card 1 – 2 1/8″ x 5 1/2″ coordinating color
  • Card 2 – 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ coordinating color

Then, simply add a greeting of your choice. The size will vary depending on the sentiment stamps that you use. Make sure to watch the video for my tips on determining what size to cut your card stock for the greetings.

I hope you enjoyed this project and give it a try. Remember, you can use ANY Designer Series Paper. Dig into your stash, or shop the beautiful selection of papers that Stampin’ Up! carries.

  1. Jackie,
I watched this video today. 4/14. So… happy I did.
I’ll save it and use your cutting measurements.
question, I ALWAYS seem to get Tombo Glue on my fingers. You don’t!
What to do about that , how to avoid “ sticky fingers”?????

    • My best advice for the glue is that you don’t need a lot! And it doesn’t need to go right to the edges. This will make picking the paper up easier where you don’t need to touch the glue and keep it from gushing out.

  2. What sweet and quick cards! I made them right away. I discovered if you make Cut #2 all the way
across the 6″ X 6″, then Cut #4 as written you will end up with 3 pieces of DSP long enough to use on the insides (2 of them 1/2″ wide.). Don’t you just love “Hello, Irresistible”?? It is one of the prettiest, I think. Thank you, Jackie for this great design! It makes truly quick and very pretty cards.

  3. Loved the idea. I previously cut a lot of my 12 x 12 paper into 4 pieces so it should be easy for me to make the cards. I have the pieces color coordinated in a box that is easy to see.
    Thanks,

  4. Thanks for this quick template, Jackie. I easily converted it to metric measurements to suit A4 cardstock: I am in New Zealand.

  5. Made these 2 cards in a jiffy and they are gorgeous. I love all your helpful tips and the simplicity of your templates. They always inspire me to “add my own personality” and everyone loves the cards. Bless you Jackie for all you do for others.

  6. You are such an inspiration for me. I only do simple and you do not disappoint me. I have to be very frugal so one of the tips that I use is to cut out more of the black background large piece to save for another use before gluing it to the DSP. I generally use a die to do this. Again, because I must be frugal, I use just a die for a sentiment in the inside of my card rather than the 4 x 5-1/4 size. Depending if I need room to write something additional it will determine the size of the die that I use. Just thought I’d share my ideas with you for other stampers to. Thanks again SO MUCH for sharing all your ideas. You are such a big help to me.
