Card Making 201, Class 3

In this video class, I (Jackie, an experienced card maker) teach Jesi (my daughter, a beginner card maker) fun ways to use Blending Brushes to add color and dimension to her handmade cards. We hope that if you’re also a beginner card maker you can learn alongside Jesi and build your knowledge and confidence as she does.

There’s a lot more information shared in the video class than what’s written below. So make sure to give it a watch to learn everything you need to know to color with blending brushes confidently!

Blending Brushes & Masking Technique

The first card we made in the video class used the masking technique. There are many different ways that you can do masking, but this is Card Making 201 and we’re keeping it easy! We made our mask using a Circle Punch, which we had learned about in Class 10 of Card Making 101. You can notice in the pictures below the different shades of the blue circles. The darker one was Jesi’s first go with Blending Brushes, she had a heavier hand. The lighter one was me with a lighter hand. Blending Brushes can give many different looks, depending on how much ink you layer on and how hard you press. Make sure to watch he video class for tips on the best way to use them!

Blending Brushes & Water Painters

Handmade sympathy card that has stamped leaves with a subtle highlight behind them using blending brushes. Card also has brown speckles that were made using the Water Painter.

The second card we made in the video class used blending brushes to subtly highlight the stamped image. CLICK HERE for my full supply list to make this sympathy card. And make sure to watch the video tutorial to learn how to add the speckles to the card using a Water Painter! Jesi had a lot of fun doing this… I now expect to see speckles on all of her cards.
