Simple Card Ideas For Dad & Others | Trusty Tools

I know masculine card ideas can be one of the hardest card designs to come up with. But look no further! The stamp set Trusty Tools has never made making cards to celebrate the men in your life easier! I have a couple of simple card ideas for Dad to share with you today, along with another card that shows how versatile this stamp set is and that it’s not just for dads.

I don’t have a video tutorial to share with you today because I think these cards are easy enough that you’ll be able to recreate them just off the pictures! The first two cards were created with “Dad” in mind – but this stamp set would make great cards for everyone! We all have those DIY friends who are handy with tools, and Trusty Tools will make fun cards that bring a smile to their faces.

Trusty Tools Card Details

Here are the first two simple card ideas for Dad, a Father’s Day card and another that would work for birthdays, thank you’s, or just because.

Two simple card ideas for dad made with the Stampin' Up! stamp set Trusty Tools. One card is a father's day card and the other is a card for dad that can be given for any occasion. Both cards are designed with tools.

LEFT CARD

  • Copper Clay card base: 4 1/4″ x 11″
  • Gray Granite: 3 1/4″ x 4 1/4″
  • Poppy Parade, Lost Lagoon, Crushed Curry: 3″ x 1″
  • Inside:
    • Basic White: 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • The three colored strips are adhered with dimensionals, giving this card a little more dimension and texture to it.

RIGHT CARD

  • Basic Black card base: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
  • Basic White – (2) pieces (front & inside): 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Scraps: Lost Lagoon, Basic White, Gray Granite
  • Painter Tape Technique: This is how the paint stripes were done. To do this, take 1″ painter’s tape, ink the sticky side with your ink pad, stick it to the card, gently rub, and then lift off the tape!
  • The paintbrush on the front of the card was die cut using the trusty tools coordinating dies, but if you don’t have the dies you could easily cut the image using scissors.

This next card is a fun example of how versatile this stamp set can be – turn the pencil stamp into a whole array of colored pencils! I think this could be a fun thank you card for teachers. Or change the sentiment and make a birthday card for your artistic friend. The possibilities are endless. And don’t forget to always stamp the inside and your envelope!
