Simple Card Layout For Beginners

Today we are playing with Designer Series Paper and I have a simple card layout for beginners that I think you will love. Or, if you’re an experienced card maker, this is such an easy layout if you need to make a quick card. So often we purchase those pretty papers and then don’t use them. Today I challenge you to grab your DSP, do a little cutting, find some coordinating card stock, and make a card or two!

2 handmade cards. One is a birthday card, the other a thank you card. they are showing a simple card layout for beginners using patterned papers.

What I love about this simple card layout for beginners is that it does not take a lot of supplies. The card uses the Designer Series Paper (DSP) to do most of the work. Just use the measurements below to cut your pieces, then add the greeting of your choice.

Tips For This Simple Card Layout For Beginners

I have a few tips in the video not only to make this card but also to help you in all your card making. Most of all, I hope you realize that card making is quick and easy, and you don’t need to purchase a ton of supplies to bless others with a handmade card.

The products used in this video were available for purchase at the time of filming (the list is below.) If something does not show in the list, it is either retired or no longer available.

Measurement & Supplies

Do you want to use this card layout to create some cards of your own? Grab any pretty papers that you have lying around, some coordinating cardstock, and the greeting of your choice. This card pictured below was made using the Let’s Go Fishing Designer Series Paper.

  • DSP layer: 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Small DSP layer: 3″ x 3″
  • Coordinating layer: 3 1/4″ x 3 1/4″

That is it – easy peasy card layout for beginners!

Here is another one that I made. This one I am sharing on Instagram. Do you follow me there? I often share cards that I do not post here on my blog or YouTube. This card pictured below was made using the Designer Series Paper Masterfully Made.

  1. Hi Jacki!
Thanks again for the quick and cute cards. I cased these (copied the lemon lime twist exactly! Because I still had that DSP) for cards for my MIL’s hair stylist & the receptionist at the salon. No way could I walk in empty handed the day before Christmas Eve 😱 So quick and easy, yet so pretty. Your blog to the rescue once again. Merry Christmas and happy New Year!
