Today I have a fun video and project for you showing how to make a pinwheel card. These cards are super fun (and easy) to make when you follow the simple instructions and tips I have for you in the video.
Pinwheel cards are perfect to make to use up all those scraps of cardstock or Designer Series paper that you have lying around. All you need are some 1 1/4″ inch squares, so save your scraps the next time you are creating and you can make a pinwheel card with them!

The Pinwheel card pictured above is created with the Let’s go Fishing Designer Series Paper (DSP) from Stampin’ Up! but you can make this card with any DSP or cardstock. The key is that you need two prints, or colors, that really contrast each other.

Measurements & Supplies
Dig into your stash of Designer Series Paper scraps and start making pinwheels! WARNING – they are a bit addictive!! Once you have made the pinwheel, you can use it on your card in any way that you’d like. I kept mine simple because I am all about simple and easy cards! You could absolutely “step up” this card by adding more layers and stamps.

You’re very welcome!!
A blast from the past – my stamp club & I used to make pinwheel cards all the time – I still have a special storage box that has patterns & designs (& probably materials) in it – it’s been about 6 or 7 years since we have made them – going to have to make some for my April birthdays, especially for the tweens – I also have a few ladies who are newer to our group, may have to share it with them. We used a 1 1/4″ square punch.
Thanks!!
I know – this card layout is an “old” one! But with so many different card designs and techniques, it’s impossible to remember them all. So I love brining back something “old” and making it new again. Happy that this post could bring back some stamping memories of yours and get you excited to make some pinwheels again!
Thanks for this information. I have a ton of dsp. This is great. THANK YOU.
You’re welcome!! I’m glad you’re feeling inspired to create this project.
What a great way to keep the pinwheel lined up and nicely matted, with the use of the 2 5/8″ pieces. Bravo. It really makes it easy and professional. Thanks.
I’m so glad you like it!
Enjoyed your pinwheel card and hope I can make one or more as quickly as you do. It’s very cute and I love it.
Thanks for the measurements and the video.
Edna
You’re very welcome, glad you like it!
After seeing the pinwheel video I went right to my craft room to give it a go. It was so easy with the 2 larger squares underneath the pinwheel squares. It looks more difficult than it is! Thank you
So happy you found it easy! I know it can look intimidating, so I’m glad it wasn’t!
Hi, Just found your tutorial. It was very helpful and I look forward to having a go. Could you tell me the type of paper cutter you use as it looks so much better than the one I have. Many thanks (from the UK)
I use the Stampin’ Up! Paper Trimmer.
