Floating Strips Card: Get In Line To Make Some Fun Handmade Cards!

Want to try a floating strips card? Get in line to make a fun and creative card using acetate or window sheets and strips of cardstock! I’ll show you how to use dies to cut different shapes for this technique and provide all the tips you need along the way.

This is a fun technique and a perfect way to use your scraps of cardstock. The ideas are endless! I used circle dies on these 3 floating strips cards, but you can use any shapes, or even just cut into squares or rectangles.

There are no rules…. use your creativity once you see how easy this technique is.

I am in love with the different “silhouette” dies we have. In the card below I used the dies that are part of the ‘Quiet Meadow’ Bundle. The “Thinking of You” is also from that stamp set.

Add a little linen thread bow and you are all set to pop this in the mail to someone!

  1. Love the floating strips. What a great way to use the window sheets that I have been accumulating. All of these cards look fantastic and what a variety!

  2. Did you borrow this technique from Natasha Foote (New Zealand). She posted a “how-to” video on how to do this months ago. If you did borrow it, please give credit where it’s due. If you didn’t borrow the technique and thought of it yourself, then I apologize.

    • This is not a new concept at all Barney, it’s been around for years and just about every card maker I know has done this design. I create and design my own ideas and I’m too busy to pay attention to what other demonstrators are making to be honest so if my card is similar it’s purely coincidental.

  3. Hi Jackie, I have what might seem like a silly question but I’m going to ask anyway… when you put the circle that you cut from your mylar sheet did you put it paper side up or mylar side up?
I thought I posted this question before but I don’t see it here so I’m posting again. Thanks.

    • Yolanda, depending on what device you are watching from the ‘thumbs up’ icon is either below the video title (mobile view in portrait mode) or across from the video title (desktop/laptop view). Thanks for watching!

  5. Hi Jackie,
I visit you blog everyday. I case many of your cards for my card group. I am a SU demonstrator for ten years. I thought this card was a good way to use scraps. I would like to share a picture of some ideas we made.
