If you’re looking for easy background techniques that add texture and interest without a lot of extra supplies, you’re going to love today’s card making idea. This simple project uses stamping on tissue paper, a little crinkling, and a bit of adhesive to create a fun, textured background that instantly elevates a handmade card. It’s quick to do, perfect for beginners, and a great way to turn a basic card design into something special using items you may already have on your craft table.
For this project, I’m using Textured Notes and Charming Day from Stampin’ Up! to create the cards, but the easy background technique itself is done with simple white tissue paper, making it easy to adapt with any stamps or supplies you have on hand.

Card Details & Measurements
Below you’ll find the card details, measurements, and supplies I used to create these projects. Be sure to watch the YouTube video tutorial above to see exactly how to create the tissue paper background, then feel free to swap in any stamps, colors, or themes you love.
Measurements:
- Basic Beige Card Base: 8 ½” x 5 ½”, scored at 4 1⁄4”
- Basic Black: 5 ⅛” x 3 ⅞”
- Basic White:
- Start with a 5 ½” x 4 ¼”
- After applying tissue paper, trim down to 5” x 3 ¾”
