I love helping beginner card makers learn quick and easy ideas to create beautiful handmade cards. So today, I’m sharing a super simple background technique that you can use on any design to add more color and texture. And since it’s spooky season, I’ve designed this project by creating a few cute Halloween cards. I also have a non-holiday card to share using the same background technique to help show how you can design this simple technique with any stamp set.
For our fun Halloween cards, I’m creating with the stamp set Playful Ghosts. It may be spooky season, but these cute ghosts aren’t very scary! And then to make our background, all you need is an ink pad and a Blending Brush.
Easy Background Technique Video Tutorial
Join me and learn to design the simplest background for quick and easy card making. I’m also sharing a few tips for coloring with Stampin’ Blends (my absolute favorite coloring tool) and how to use them to add some speckles to your card.

Playful Ghosts Card Details
These Playful Ghosts were fun and easy to color using Stampin’ Blends. To make them the focal image, I fussy cut them out and popped them on with Dimensionals. Make sure to watch the video tutorial to see how we created this background technique with Blending Brushes and added the speckles using markers!
