Card Making Is Fun With Stencils & Fun Folds

I’ve recently been on a creative streak by using stencils to create my cards. Or also known as Decorative Masks… I think that’s the ‘official’ term for them but I always call them stencils. So today, I’m sharing an easy card making project where we create our focal image with stencils while also making a fun fold card! Because who doesn’t love making easy fun folds?

The stencils I’m using in this project are from the Stampin’ Up! Frosted Forest Bundle. This bundle includes the Frosted Forest stamp set, coordinating dies, and decorative masks. You can get each of these items individually, but if you opt in for the bundle there is a bundled savings!

Stencils & Fun Folds Video Tutorial

Join me and learn my easy tips for creating with stencils, and let’s make an easy Flip Top Fun Fold! All you need is any set of stencils, one or two ink pads, a blending brush, grid paper, tape, and a pen. Those last three items are my must-have tools to help guarantee that the different stencils line up correctly and stay in place while using them. They’re not necessary to have, but super helpful!

Frosted Forest Card Details

This fun fold card is one of the 54 fun folds in our templates book, you can find it on page 23. We made this template in Volume 6 of our series, you can watch the free class and learn to make this fun fold and more by clicking here.

FUN FOLD MEASUREMENTS:

• Crumb Cake:
  • Card Base: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″
  • Flap: 3/14″ x 5 1/2″, score at 1/2″
• Country Woods DSP: 3″ x 4 3/4″, and 4″ x 5 1/4″
• Basic White: 2 3/4″ x 4 1/2″, 4″ x 5 1/4″, and scraps

Make sure to watch the video tutorial to see how easy it is to use the Frosted Forest stencils and design the tree colors with only one stamp pad.

Here are two other cards I made with the same stencils but with a different ink color. Easy to make, and these would be great masculine cards! Just add a sentiment to match the occasion.

• Early Espresso: 3 5/8″ x 4 7/8″

And one final card idea to share with you! I told you, I’ve been on a creative streak with my stencils! And since the bundle is called Frosted Forest, I figured I should make one card with a wintery theme. Which I think is why I love this bundle so much, it’s very versatile. You can create these trees for every season.

These pine trees are also a part of the stencil set. To create them I followed the same steps in the video tutorial, but I used the inks Pool Party, Garden Green, and Shaded Spruce to make a colorful winter scene.

• Country Woods DSP: 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
