What Easy & Fun Card Making Background Will I Make Today?

This is an easy and fun card making background technique that I have been so excited to teach you! I call it the ‘smooshing’ technique. It’s a little bit messy, but not much! And you probably already have the supplies you need to make these backgrounds!

We are also using the Stamparatus today to ensure that our greeting is super dark and black! This is one of my favorite uses for the Stamparatus – stamping image several times to get it to look like you want. Make sure to check out the video for all my tips!

Are you ready to learn how to make some fun backgrounds?

Fun & Easy Card Making Background Video Tutorial

All you need to make this easy card making background is a few Classic Ink Pad reinkers, some wax paper, and a water spritzing bottle. Check out today’s video tutorial for all my tips and how I finished my cards after I made the backgrounds.

I hope you give this a try. Remember, you have to experiment. Some colors look great together, while others just didn’t work. It’s only paper – if you don’t like it, throw it away and try some other color combinations!

Let me know what color combination you want to try on your card background–I’m super curious to read your thoughts!

What You Need for This Card Making Background

For my featured cards, to make my background I used these colors:

  • Bermuda Bay
  • Pool Party
  • Granny Apple Green

You will also need:

  • Wax Paper
  • Water Spritzing Bottle (see supply list below)

I usually get 3 backgrounds out of each try. Make sure to have your card stock cut before you begin so you can make several.

All of these cards used the same basic supplies and measurements; I just used different ink refills.

  • Basic Black: 4 5/8″ x 3 3/8″

  1. Love the simplicity of this method!! Also love how each one turns out different yet similar! Definitely going to try it.

  2. Loved this technique, Jackie! I’m wondering what did you place at the top of the reinkers’ cap to identify the color?
