It has been quite awhile since I did a video in my STAMPING BASICS series, so I thought it was about time to focus on the Basics so – How To Use Embossing Folders in the Big Shot is today’s topic!

It’s hard for me to make a card without using the Big Shot, and I know I always forget that not everyone is as comfortable with it as I am.  It’s simple to use, but can be confusing as to which plates and how to make the “sandwich” that you run through the machine.

So I am going to do a couple of videos talking about all the different accessories and ways to use the Stampin’ Up!Big Shot by Sizzix.  We are starting today with how to use embossing folders in the Big Shot. There are 2 different types of folders, and the “sandwich” is different, depending on which type of folder you are using.

Embossing Folders Add Texture

Embossing folders are one of my favorite things to use on a card because of the texture they add and the big shot makes it beautiful in such an easy way. It’s the best embossing machine for paper crafts. The rest of this post includes cards that I have previously shared, but I thought I would share them again because they all use Embossing Folders and this post would be a bit boring without cards to look at!!!

Do you see all the texture here?  The Tin Tile Embossing folder is incredible!  I did not do any distressing or anything to the embossed cardstock on these 3 cards, I just wanted you to see the gorgeous texture.

Video that Went Along With These Cards

This is also a video I previously shared, but since I am sharing the cards again, I thought I would share the video again because it gives you lots of tips for making these cards!

Country Home Cards

All 3 of the cards were colored using an Aqua Painter and my ink pads.  I love the watercolor look and it’s quick & easy!  But make sure, if you are coloring with water, that you stamp your image in either Stazon or the old Archival Black that we used to carry.  You need an ink that will not smear when it gets wet.

Let’s take a look at the first card:

Do you see the cotton?  For this I used the White Stampin’ Chalk Marker.  It actually smeared the black a bit, but I liked how it looked.
