Nine times out of ten I’m sure you use the positive image that a punch provides you.  Meaning, you stamp an image and punch it out to use on a card or you punch out a circle to use on a card.

But using the paper that is left behind after you punch is a fun technique.

On this card I embossed the Modern Mosaic pattern on the Core’dinations cardstock and then used the 2-1/2″ Circle Punch to create the negative image of a circle.  If you use dimensionals to pop up the whole piece, you get a really fun visual element on your card.

Then you will see that I used the positive image of 1-3/4″ Circle Punch with a positive image of the Mosaic Punch to finish off the card.

Framelits are also a fun way to make negatives images to use on your cards!
